I was 11th Grade when "The Monkees" TV Show premiered. I liked the more serious Rock n Roll, but these 4 young guys were just funny and compelling back in my teens. It's so sad that Mickey Dolenze is the only one left. This song is such a lovely classic not one of their biggest hits but really an emotionally touching one. So many of my generation and our stars are leaving us. These photo memories are all that are left of those great years so long ago.

This may be old but it never gets old.

found the album We Can Make Music for R10 in South Africa and had to get it as Tommy Roe is a guilty pleasure of mine (mostly a british freakbeat/psych man). As expected he delivered with this tune, what a belter... if the Monkees had done this circa '67 it would have been massive

They've been playing this very "enhanced" version of Because on my local oldies station in MN for a few years now. I always wondered what is this weird mix, something is up...? Now I know what it is! They probably dispatched some young temp to locate a "stereo" version online for their automated catalog and they just grabbed the first thing that came up. You'd think they would try harder than that. As for the enhancements (acoustic guitar, additional backing vocals), perhaps better to leave well enough alone!
